A school principal is the most senior teacher, leader and manager of a school. In early public education, the full title was "principal teacher," which accounts for the present day title having an adjectival form, a foreshortened version of the original full title. School principals in the United States are expected to have school administrator licensure, and, often, a master's degree in education administration.[1][2]
